New York Democratic Rep. Charles Rangel said Sunday he sees his idea as a way to deter politicians from launching wars. He believes a draft would bolster U.S. troop levels that are currently insufficient to cover potential future action in Iran, North Korea and Iraq.
"There's no question in my mind that this president and this administration would never have invaded Iraq, especially on the flimsy evidence that was presented to the Congress, if indeed we had a draft, and members of Congress and the administration thought that their kids from their communities would be placed in harm's way," Rangel said.

Though I feel people have been saying that all along. I guess the difference is that he's actually doing something about it.
P.S. Tatsuya Ishida, you're not helping my tendency to become infatuated with animated characters. The devil is hot today! http://www.sinfest.net/index.php

I've been saying it all along, anyway. I don't know that that means absolutely bring back the draft right now, but... I've been saying it. And when I talk, the powers that be sure enough listen. Hmm. ;)
Well, I've been saying it... not that I'm all gung ho about bringing the draft back... but I've been saying that it would change the argument about war. And when I talk, the powers that be... talk, too, and often say things that have very little to do with what I said. But apparently not right now.
;)
What?
Maybe these comments are all going to you. In which case, pick the one you like the best.
Or maybe I'll put them all up, so I can enjoy having multiple comments on a post. ;)
