*sigh* the countdown until classes has started...

Back in VA now...got to drive through the snow for about 2 hours around DC, which was not so much fun, but not as awful as it could be. Lugged my way too much stuff up to my room, and I've been trying to clean and unpack as much as I can. Unfortunately I still have all the papers and books from last semester to deal with before I can install the cool new things I got for my computer, including a printer that scans and looks really cool. :) The good news is that I passed the Praxis test with flying colors, so that's something over and done with. I am going to miss the lazy days of vacation, though...sitting around watching tv, reading some awesome books, hanging out with friends...

Just finished reading: When True Night Falls and Crown of Shadows, by C.S. Friedman. Gerald Tarrant is awesome. I can't say much more than that.

Weird break tv sychronicity

As most of you who read this blog know, I've been enjoying a long leisurely break of tv series watching. It started with season 2 of Lost, which my sister has been borrowing from her boyfriend. I had to do a marathon until 6 am the morning before she left to get them all in. Then I picked up Firefly from Barnes and Noble since I didn't get it for Christmas, only to discover that it was a buy 1 get 1 free sale. I brought home Dead Like Me as well...and lo and behold, the last episode of Dead Like Me has the actor who plays Michael on Lost as a yoga instructor (wow, that man is flexible!) and the actress who plays Kaylee on Firefly as a goth girl in a music store. What are the chances that this one show has connections to all 3 series I watched over break? Very strange...

Currently reading: Black Sun Rising, by C. S. Friedman. One of those books that dances between fantasy and sci-fi, in the colonizers of a new planet end up in medieval-type societies and have to deal with magic way, this book sends Priest Damien into the source of the fae to kill the creatures that attacked Ciani and removed her Adept powers, in the company of her apprentice and the evil being called the Hunter. I'm very enamoured of the Luke-like character Tarrent (aka the Hunter), and I'm waiting for the other characters to realize he's not dead and rescue him. :)
