Well, with an email from Hwy, the number of people I know getting married in the near future has jumped to 4. It's like some strange fad...only not really, I'm glad all of these people have been with their boyfriends for an extended period of time and are not getting married right after high school or anything. And then there's poor Lynn, waiting to see if the Virginians vote for a marriage protection act that will essentially cut off all chance she has of being legally married. Ironically enough, the fact that she can live with her partner because they're both biologically female has triggered a controversy here with straight couples protesting that they should be allowed to live together as well. For once, gay people have the benefit...
Because I've accepted it from others, it's my duty to offer this meme as well:
The first five people to respond to this post, will get some form of art, by me, about them. I make no guarantees about quality or type, but I will assure that I will give it good effort and that the art will be individual to you, so if you get a mixed CD, a dirty limerick, some sort of painting , or perhaps some origami, or anything else yours is the only one like it.The only catch, of course; as with most memes, if you sign up, you have to put this in your own journal as well.
Given my general lack of free time, you may have to wait until I have a major break to work on these...unless you want a lesson plan named after you. ;)
Books read in the recent past:
The Whale Rider, by Witi Ihimaera
Poison, by Chris Wooding
I am the Messenger, by Markus Zusak
Foreign Exchange, by Mel Glenn
The Dead of Night, A Killing Frost, and Darkness be My Friend, by John Marsden
(getting progressively younger) Monkey Island, by Paula Fox
The Boggart, by Susan Cooper
Heck, I'll count it, because reading like a teacher is totally different from just reading:
Lord of the Flies, by William Golding.
