Happy Birthday to me!

Wow, I feel so old now...which is kind of ironic, because at work when I told them how old I was they called me "the baby" of the group. Which I am, but still. At least my head teacher said she did get worried about 25, because it was on the way to 30, which is...I don't know, the end of fun? *laughs*

Currently reading: Mulengro, by Charles DeLint. Yay to Becky for giving me this book. Though it's slightly weird to read DeLint now after spending so much time on him in my thesis and hearing my advisor say that I am "smarter than he is". I'm still enjoying this book, though. Yay for Gypsies.

A note on Unicorn's Blood, which I just finished reading... Okay, I get that the author likes to use the conceit of a supernaturally omniscient narrator, but having the Virgin Mary narrate was just weird. At least Tom O'Bedlam appeared in Firedrake's Eye outside of the narration, but VM here doesn't really bring anything to the story that could have been accomplished with normal narration. Plus, many chapters go by without this external narration commenting on things, so when it does come in it's very abrupt, which is annoying. At this point I don't know if I'd look to read anything else by her, if this is the way she likes to write.
