Wow, a somewhat overwhelming vacation...many many people, lots of good food, and a fair amount of sitting around not doing much of anything. It was really nice to be with the whole Bryn Mawr crowd again, even though I still sometimes feel a bit left out of the whole theater loop. And I'm very excited that Chelsea is going to school in the same state, so we can visit each other and not feel stranded in the middle of nowhere.
Plus my very first kiss ever at the stroke of midnight. A sign of change? One can only hope.
(Literally) Just finished reading: The Book Thief, by Marcus Zusak. I was expecting a YA book, because I thought that this one had been advertised as one, but I really don't think it is at all, despite having a teenage protagonist. Charlotte said she had just read the book over vacation and that it was amazing, and that it made her cry, which I can believe. I think if I had read the last half of the book in one sitting I certainly would have too, but the gap in reading dimmed the effect just enough that I didn't have to get all sappy. ;) Yay for the first book of 2007!
Also recently read: Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen, by Tamora Pierce. Exciting gifts from my YA Lit prof, specially chosen for me! (Well, Trickster's Choice was mine, Queen was my friend Lynn's, but she let me borrow it) Exciting, and I was very happy to see that she decided that she didn't have to write in four-book series anymore, because you can never find all of them at once when you want to read them.
Friends with Benefits, another book from my prof. I'm not quite sure what the message was here. A chick-lit kind of book that will definitely appeal to high school girls.
I can't even remember the title of the other book...a generic sort of fantasy, where I feel like conclusions were made that were not ever figured out in the text and left me sort of confused. I can't see most high schoolers sticking with this.
