Answering life's questions with music (aka Godstereo!)

Pulled from my brother's myspace. His results were actually really..apt. Check it out.
Ok, so this is really just a variation on the Life Soundtrack thing - but just as interesting....

What you do is...put your itunes or media player on shuffle dont lie and answer the questions with the song titles. try it..

How am I feeling today?: Visions of Angels - Genesis
(That's good, I guess?)

How do my friends see me?: Nutshell - Alice in Chains
(Brown and wrinkly? Closed in a shell? I don't know what this is trying to convey.)

Where will I get Married?: My Funny Valentine - Matt Damon (from The Talented Mr. Ripley)
(So abroad somewhere...but chances are my husband will kill me off on our honeymoon?)

What is my best friend's theme song?: Wonder Why - Avalon
(I think the artist is more accurate than the song title, but they're both fitting!)

What is the story of my life?: Supervixen - Garbage
(Oh yeah. You know it. ;)

What is/was highschool like?: Voyage to AVALON - Kenji Kawai
(Ok, despite the interesting trips to places such as Ireland, high school was in no way like a voyage to Avalon.)

How is today going to be?: Precious Things - Tori Amos
(That's not the happiest song...boo.)

How can I get ahead in life?: Overture - Jesus Christ Superstar
(I should start? Be related to Jesus? Your guess is as good as mine on this one. There's only so much you can do with an instrumental...)

What is the best thing about me?: Joy - Newsboys
(Oh, I like that. :) )

What is in store for this weekend?: Breaking Up the Girl - Garbage
(Wouldn't I actually have to be in a relationship for this to happen?)

What song describes my parents?: Irish Fiddle - The Dubliners
(Um...not really at all.)

My grandparents?: hymni nocturnales - QNTAL
(Hey, this one actually works pretty well...religious center, a mix of the old and the new...)

How is my life going?: Katie Mae - Lightnin' Hopkins
(It's being watched and commented on by someone else?)

What song will they play at my funeral?: The Long and Winding Road - The Beatles
(That seems appropriate.)

How does the world see me?: Home to Freedom - Judy Klass
(So I fit in all right, but I'm not really from here...)

Will I have a happy life?: Bleed - Collective Soul
(Ack!)

Do people secretly lust after me?: Conformity 451 - Norine Braun
(So yes, but they can't admit it because that wouldn't be conforming to the standards of beauty.)

How can I make myself happy?: Can't Cry These Tears - Garbage
(Um...getting to the point where you just can't cry anymore is one way to get happy, I guess...just not the most comfortable way!)

What should I do with my life?: The Things We Carried - Ron DeChristophoro
(so, I should not go to war. considering that wasn't ever a plan of mine, I'm not sure how this helps.)

Will I ever have children?: In the center of the Silver City was a park, a place of recreation and rest. - from Murder Mysteries: Two Plays for Voices by Neil Gaiman
(So...yes? The children recreate and I rest? I feel like having an audiobook throws the whole thing off...)

What is some good advice for me?: Money - from Caberet, Liza Minelli and Joel Grey
(so what exactly about money? that I need it? that I'm managing it poorly? come on, give me a hint here!)

What is my signature dancing song?: Throwing it All Away - Genesis
(I don't even think you can dance to this....)

What do I think my current theme song is?: In My Hands - Gaskit
(Interesting, considering the chorus starts "I'm in prison here".)

What does everyone else think my current theme song is?: I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got - Sinead O'Connor
(Once again, it seems everyone else has a different perception of me than I have of myself.)

What type of men/women do you like?: I am a Rock - Simon and Garfunkle
(Apparently I want to be alone! Eesh, not so good...)

Recently Read: Letters from the Inside, by John Marsden. This one actually wasn't for my assistantship! One of the girls in our YA lit class used it for her book talk, and I said it made me want to read it, and she lent me the book. An interesting epistolary novel in which both teenage girl writers have secrets and truth is a very ambiguous term.

Shabanu: Daughter of the Wind, by Suzanne Fischer Staples. Growing up in a Muslim nomadic tribe, Shabanu has been allowed freedom to roam with her beloved camels. But the arranged marriages for her older sister and herself puts a strain on her whole family, and Shabanu is ultimately not able to escape the patriarchal system to achieve her own independence.

A Child Called It, by Dave Pelzer. The true account of the third worst case of child abuse in California history, Pelzer writes in the voice of his nine year old self coping with the conflicting desire to get help and to protect his abuser, his mother. The saddest part of the book is how surreal it all seems, despite being true. I just can't imagine either treating your own child like that or having the will to survive despite it all. How do you recover from a past like that? There are two more books that detail Pelzer's adolescence and adult life which I will also have to read.

Total books read this month: 8
Total books read this year: 100!!! Wow, a nice round number!
