ACK!

I just realized the Praxis II test is next Saturday! I suppose I should actually study for it...find out what the format of the test is, all that good stuff.

That's in addition to my UDL PowerPoint presentation for Ed Tech (I know, it doesn't sound like a big deal, but it's my first PowerPoint and I can't get it the way I want it!), my metaphor for teaching and learning (any ideas? please? I'm desperate!), and my text-driven unit. I'm going to die...

Just finished reading: Getting Away With Murder: The True Story of the Emmitt Till Case by Chris Crowe. Non-fiction YA book about the murder of a black teenager who whistled at a white woman in Mississipi at the hands of her husband and brother-in-law. I had no idea that this incident was the galvanizing force behind the civil rights movement!

Monster, by Walter Dean Myers. Interesting YA novel about a black boy on trial for participation in the murder and robbery of a store owner. He's innocent, but even his own attorney doesn't quite believe him. Very interesting format, as he tells his story through a film script, including camera angles, voice overs, etc.

The Other Side of Dawn, by John Marsden. The end of the Tomorrow, When the War Began series, the book details the end of the war and the subsequent attempts at recovery by Ellie and her friends and family. A decent end to the series, neither too overwhelmingly happy nor too depressing.

Funny, I just read Monster for class last week.... I almost wrote a short paper about it, but ended up writing about Nothing But the Truth instead.
