da-da-da da, da-da-da-da-da....that was my favorite song to play in Stage Band in middle school. I still like it. :)
I do not like facing the fact that I am leaving this weekend to drive all the way down to Virginia to move into an apartment with a roommate I don't even know the name of and start classes with people I don't know at all in a subject I really hope is the right choice of study, while hoping that the loan info the financial aid office sent me is incorrect (I can't believe the summer session is THAT expensive. This is unreasonable.) and that I can find a job outside of school and make a decent amount of money. And before I do any of that I have to pack. AAAAH. And neither Rachel or Becky can come around to see me off. I miss them, and I haven't even left yet. And I have to find time to meet with Shelly to watch Serenity and finish off our Firefly get-togethers. And it's already pretty late tonight. Geez. I don't know if I can win.
I want a hug.
Currently reading: The Icarus Girl, by Helen Oyeyemi. It's really interesting, so far. Jessamy has a Nigerian mother and an English father who met when her mother was in England at university. Jessamy is a strange child, prone to screaming fits and sudden illnesses, who has befriended a child with unusual abilities at her grandfather's compound in Nigeria. The bookjacket suggests that this meeting is about dopplegangers, so I'm interested in seeing where this is going.
Just finished (re)reading: American Gods, by Neil Gaiman. Wow, this book is good. I think I appreciated it more this time than when I first read it. And I've got thesis-related ideas working...but I'm not sure where they'll go, or if I'll have the time/opportunity to make something of them.

*HUG* I'm home again, a little tanner and generally refreshed, though not excited about going to work tomorrow. I hope your moving-in went well, and that classes go even better, and that you come online so I can tell you all about everything and you can tell me all about everything. ;)
