The complete list from this week of vacation, and those I finished just before:
Good Night, Mr. Holmes, by Carole Nelson Douglas. A series told from Irene Adler's point of view, and an interesting juxtaposition to Laurie R. King's Mary Russel series (which I adore).
The Toughest Indian in the World, by Sherman Alexie. I like him. I haven't read anything by him since Native American Lit, but this collection of stories was almost as good as The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven.
Uppity Women of Medieval Times, by Vicki Leon. Katie Rutledge's christmas present to me, which I didn't get until a month later because Rachel kept forgetting to give it to me. But it was worth the wait. Lots of fun, riotous women in there, many whom I want to read more about. This would be the perfect bookcrossing release at Bryn Mawr.
The Mistress of Spices, by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. A wonderful magical book. It reminds me of Kala.
Cowboys are my Weakness, by Pam Houston. Short stories are not usually my thing, and these less so, but I kept reading and to my surprised, I recognized one of the stories! Kleist had us read it at some point, I think for creative writing class, but it was so strange to see it again in this context. I remembered it being longer...and better, quite frankly. Oh well.
Septimus Heap, Book 1: Magyk, by Angie Sage. This was actually in my brother's easter basket...I started reading it during breakfast, and just kept going when he said he didn't mind. My mom said it was a best-seller, but I didn't think it was that amazing...but I think my brother will like it.
Currently reading: Two Girls, Fat and Thin, by Mary Gaitskill. This is one of the books my co-worker gave me, and I think the one she found disturbing. We'll see how it turns out.
